Exam Information

General information

As with other languages and according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages, Modern Greek is a language that can be officially examined according to six (6) levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2).  In Cyprus, one can take the exam once a year for all levels (generally in May).  For most government purposes (residence permit, passport, etc.), candidates need to acquire a certificate of language acquisition for the levels of A2 or B1.

In addition to the language requirement, foreign nationals applying for a residence permit or a passport, need to also pass an exam on Sufficient Knowledge on the Cultural and Political Life of Cyprus.  This latter exam is offered twice and sometimes three times a year at random dates.

The present website provides updates on both types of exams regarding upcoming exams, registration deadlines, results etc.
