Course Schedule 2020.
All courses are offered twice a year and last for 15 weeks. The classes meet twice a week for 1.5 hours which makes a total of 45 teaching hours per level.

Group coursesRegular Group courses (4-10 students) are taught according to programmes that are based on modern, fun, and interactive textbooks that are in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Moreover, the courses use additional materials selected, compiled, and/or created by the instructors of Cosmopolis, and lots of fun and engaging activities and games that make learning an absolute pleasure. Moreover, all courses include references to the Greek-Cypriot dialect and, wherever relevant, highlight the differences between standard Greek and the local variety in order to maximise the learning experience of the participants.

Small group coursesSmall Group courses (2-3 people) can be taught according to a programme created for the target level. Similar to the General group courses, the small group courses provide stimulating materials that make the learning experience fun and productive. The courses are in harmony with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Additionally, the programme can be tailored to the specific needs of the students, in communication with the instructor and the director of Studies.

Private coursesPrivate (one-on-one) courses are tailored to the specific needs of the students. The programmes and materials offered by the instructor are reviewed and approved by the Director of Studies, and take into consideration the particular learning needs, preferences, and style of the students.

Available levels
BeginnersThe course offers an introduction to Greek with such topics as introductions, speaking about oneself (family, work, hobbies), shopping for food and clothes, weekly activities, useful everyday phrases, getting around in town, etc.

ElementaryThe course continues from the point where the A1 course finishes and enables the students to express themselves in the future and past, to conduct everyday conversations at the various services such as banks, post-office, and hospitals. Moreover, it equips the students with relevant vocabulary for working, socializing, and travelling.

IntermediateThe course aims to enhance the students’ knowledge of Greek by revisiting some of the topics that were addressed in the first two levels in more depth, but also by adding topics such as the weather, home and property, public services, environment and ecology, healthy living etc. By the end of this level the students are generally able to communicate on their own on most aspects of their lives.

Upper intermediateThis course enables the students to become confident in their use of the language both grammatically and thematically. The course uses the book ΚΛΙΚ Β2 as its primary tool, but also other materials such as newspaper articles, videos, literature passages etc. Some of the topics covered are Diversity, Culture and Civilisation; Home; Nature and Wildlife; Technology; Art and Artistic Expression; Communication and Alienation; Work Environment.

Greek conversation over a cup of coffeeEvery week there are various exciting and current topics, and participants are grouped with someone who is on the same level as them. Appropriate materials for each level are given out, topics are introduced, and conversations are facilitated by the instructor.
